Cleistanthus malaccensis Hook.f., Fl. Brit. India 5: 277 (1887)

Species name meaning 'from Malacca', a place on the coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Usually small trees. Stipules present but dropped early. Plant glabrous. Leaves alternate in one plane, whitish below with indistinct venation. Young leaves produced in pinkish flushes.

Description
Tree. Stipules very small and dropped early, so usually only the scar visible. Petiole short up to ca. 1 cm. Leaves alternate, in one plane, simple, with smoorth margin, glabrous, lower surface whitish, venation pinnate but indistinct. Young leaves produced in pinkish flushes, usually with very clearly visible venation. Flowers axillary in bundles of small whitish flowers. Fruits dehiscent capsules.
