Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 27 m tall and 30 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 2 mm long.
Leaves alternate, simple, tripli-veined, hairy. Flowers ca. 13 mm diameter,
white, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 22 mm long, yellow-orange-red, drupes.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 300 m altitude. On sandy
ridges and hillsides. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance
remnant.
Uses
Fruits are edible.
Distribution
Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, East-Kalimantan).
Local names
Borneo: Kerodong.
