Mallotus leucodermis Hook.f.

Trees up to ca. 35 m tall and 100 cm dbh, reproductive from 6 m tall and 8 cm dbh. Twigs solid, glabrous. Stipules triangular, early-caducous, erect, 0.5-2 mm long by 0.5-2 mm wide. Petioles glabrous, up to ca. 13 cm long. Leaves (sub-)opposite to alternate, (sub-)opposite leaves usually different in size, elliptic to obovate, 9.5-23 cm long by 4.5-13 cm wide, length/width-ratio 1.62-2.46; secondary veins 4-7, not ending in the margin (fading); leaf base obtuse to slightly cordate; leaf margin with glands; leaf upper surface glabrous, numerously to densely gland dotted, with 2-4 basal nectary glands on tertiary veins along basal leaf margin; leaf lower surface glabrous, densely gland dotted, rarely with hair tuft domatia in vein axils. Staminate inflorescences not branched; flowers clustered per bracteole; bracteoles with entire margin. Pistillate inflorescences not branched; fruits 10-25 mm diameter, 3-locular, without spines.

Ecology: Collected up to ca. 500 m altitude. A shade-tolerant (sub-)canopy species, usually found in swamps or along rivers and streams.

Distribution: Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and New Guinea. In Borneo collected in Brunei, Sarawak, Sabah, East-, Central- and West-Kalimantan.
