Dehaasia corynantha Kosterm., Bot. Jahr. 93 (1973)

Latin for 'club-shaped'.

Sub-canopy tree up to 21 m tall and 35 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous. Flowers ca. 3 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 25 mm long, red-blue-purple, fleshy drupes placed on swollen red stalks.

In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 200 m altitude. On alluvial sites and ridges with sandy soils, but also on limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, East-Kalimantan).
