Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 30 m tall and 46 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous. Flowers ca. 3.5 mm diameter,
white-yellow, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 21 mm long, blue-purple, fleshy
drupes on swollen red fruit stalks.
Ecology
In slightly disturbed to undisturbed mixed dipterocarp to sub-montane
forests up to 1000 m altitude. Usually on hillsides and ridges. In secondary
forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.
Distribution
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (East-Kalimantan, so far only known
from Sungai Wain area).
