Alseodaphne borneensis Gamble, Kew Bull. (1910)

Latin for 'from Borneo'.

Description
Emergent tree up to 52 m tall and 133 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, tertiary venation conspicuously reticulate. Flowers ca. 10 mm diameter, yellowish, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 21 mm diameter, blue-black, fleshy drupes with red fruit stalks.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, keranga, coastal and sub-montane forests up to 1100 m altitude. Usually on sandy hillsides. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Distribution
Borneo (Sarawak, West- and East-Kalimantan).
