Description
Shrub (strangling) up to 6 m tall and 6 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
opposite, simple, penni-veined, glabrous. Flowers ca. 14 mm diameter,
white-yellow, with corolla tube, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 11 mm diameter,
blue-purple, drupes.
Ecology
Mainly in open coastal areas, i.e. along the beach, in mangroves, along
tidal rivers, but also along rivers and in swamps more inland up to 100 m
altitude. Usually on sandy soils, but also on clay.
Distribution
India, Southern China and Southern Japan, to New Guinea and Australia. In
Borneo found throughout the island.
