Gracinia griffithii T.Anderson, Fl. Brit. India 1: 266 (1874)
Species named after W.Griffith [1810-1845], an English medical officer who made many plant
collections and wrote several botanical books which were mostly published after his death.

Description
Tree, 12-18 m tall. Leaves broadly elliptic, 22-40 cm x 10-20 cm. Flowers unisexual, yellowish but
petals reddish at base. Fruit a globose berry, 5-8 cm diameter, like a green apple, turning
brown-yellow.
Ecology
Common in lowland forests.
Uses
Fruits are acid but edible, usually cooked.
Distribution
Peninsular Thailand and Malaysia.
