Microtropis tetrameris Ding Hou, Fl. Mal. 6,1 (1969)

Latin for 'four parts'.

Understorey tree up to 15 m tall and 30 cm dbh. Stipules minute, early dropped. Leaves opposite, simple, penni-veined. Flowers ca. 3 mm in diameter, green-white, placed in panicles or cymes. Fruits ca. 14 mm long, fleshy drupe, seeds with aril.

Undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 600 m altitude. Sandy soils?  In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Borneo (endemic for the Sungai Wain - Balikpapan area in East-Kalimantan).
