(Latin for 'of Bangka' an island between Sumatra and Borneo)
Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 25 m tall and 26 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
alternate, simple, penni-veined, lower surface hairy. Flowers with ca. 2 mm long
petals, pale yellow, placed on branches. Fruitlets ca. 8 mm long, red-purple,
placed in apocarp, fruitlets fleshy, 1-seeded.
Ecology
In undisturbed forests up to 1000 m altitude, but usually much lower.
Usually on limestone or clay soils. In secondary forests usually present as a
pre-disturbance remnant.
Distribution
Sumatra and Borneo (Sabah, East- and South-Kalimantan).
