Named after T. Ottolander [1854-1935], a Dutch planter in Java.

Description
Upper canopy tree up to 45 m tall and 101 cm dbh. Stem with white sap.
Stipules ca. 15 mm long. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, densely hairy
below, feeling sandpaper like. Flowers ca. 14 mm diameter, white, placed in
axillary bundles. Fruits ca. 70 mm long, green, drupes.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 100 m altitude. Usually on
alluvial sites near or along rivers and streams, on sandy soils. In secondary
forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.
Distribution
Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Java, Borneo (Sabah, East-Kalimantan).
