Description
Large trees. Stipules present, but soon falling. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, narrow shaped, undersurface
golden-brown with clearly visible scales. Flowers large, white, with epicalyx, placed on raised bumps at the base of the stem. Fruits ca. 70 mm long,
yellow-orange, capsule with short spines, seeds completely enclosed by aril.
Ecology
In mixed dipterocarp forests. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.
