Description
Emergent tree up to 52 m tall and 86 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 7 mm long. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, long petioles. Flowers ca. 3 mm diameter, yellowish, placed in racemes. Fruits ca. 19 mm diameter, green-grey-brown, nut with basal cupule.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, keranga and sub-montane forests up to 1700 m altitude. On hillsides and ridges with sandy soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Distribution
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah, Central- and East-Kalimantan).
