Shrub up to 9 m tall and 14 cm dbh. Twigs hollow. Stipules minute, ca. 0.5 mm long. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, petiole usually with two glands, leaves hairy below. Flowers ca. 4 mm diameter, green-white, placed in racemes. Fruits ca. 9 mm long, bluish-green, dehiscent, 3-lobed capsules, seeds with red arils.

Mainly in disturbed, open habitats up to 200 m altitude. Also found on limestone.

Indo-China, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo (East-Kalimantan).
