Alangium havilandii Bloemb.

(Named after G.D. Haviland [1857-?1901], an English plant and insect collector)

Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 25 m tall and 30 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, with asymmetric base. Flowers ca. 35 mm diameter, white coloured, placed in short cymes,  long and narrow petals curved downward, exposing stamens. Fruits ca. ca. 15 mm long, pink fleshy drupes.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and peat swamp forests up to 850 m altitude, but usually much lower. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah and East-Kalimantan).
