Sub-canopy tree up to 22 m tall and 60 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined. Flowers ca. 6 mm in diameter, white, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 19 mm long, orange fleshy drupe with cupule.

Undisturbed forests up to 2000 m altitude. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah and East-Kalimantan) and Celebes.
