Melanorrhoea macrocarpa Engl.

Emergent tree up to 52 m tall and 91 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, short petioles. Flowers ca. 10 mm diameter, white-creamish coloured, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 25 mm long, purple-black drupes, calyx persistent and slightly enlarged..

Undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 1200 m altitude. Usually on sandy soils. In secondary forests present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Malay Peninsula and Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah and East Kalimantan).
